Nikki Knight
Yes, I’m “that girl.” The one always talking too much in school, the first to raise her hand — pick me, pick me. The one choosing to sit in the front row and yet almost always the last one out the door because I decided to change clothes at the last minute. (Can you say “Wardrobe Crisis?)
Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, I grew up with family gathered around the piano where my mother played the hymns and taught me to love Jesus. Momma was a beauty queen and a flight attendant with the pill box hat, heels, and gloves. Raised on Jesus and a dress for Sunday school, it was important to do your best and look your best always. While most of my dresses had “Sewn with Love by Momma or Grandmother” in the neck, I grew up loving shopping trips with friends and dressing up. Fast forward to college graduation at the University of Kentucky where I soon began my retail career at McAlpins Department Store as a Manager and Fashion/Promotion Director. Trips to New York as well as planning fashion shows and events were the norm. I loved it and that handsome man that swept me off my feet at that time!
Marriage and Motherhood led to a corporate job in marketing and advertising when our family moved to Louisville then a sweet time at home with our kids – being the well-heeled PTA mom! Volunteering eventually led to work full-time with our local church, teaching and leading women’s Bible studies while helping women establish their lives in the faith and encouraging them to go share the good news. With anything I did, one of the things I looked most forward to in getting out of the house was dressing up! Now, with both kids grown and graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle!) I’m returning to my retail roots, where I, too, am challenged to share the good news in everyday life.
I want to encourage and empower women to live a life of confidence, love, and intentionality. Instead of fretting about our clothes, running late from one more “wardrobe crises,” my heartbeat is to help women identify their style, find the pieces that work for them, and cycle the ones that don’t. Helping women embrace their assets and leverage them so they can get onto the business of the day — whatever that may be. Cooking dinner, teaching a class, giving a presentation, selling homes, running a company, running an errand, let’s do it confidently, joyfully, lovingly with intentionality. I’m a firm believer we were made for a purpose. Let’s get after it! If we enjoy it, it’s sure to show. To me, that’s fashioning your world beautifully. That’s what I’m all about.
